Italian Minor
Watch this video to know more about the Italian Program at Towson University.
Through the study of the Italian language and culture, students minoring in Italian acquire a broad understanding of the major cultural movements and processes that have shaped the Italian cultural heritage - including Italian-American culture - from literature to art, music, film, fashion, food, and business, and engage in a critical assessment of the global changes that continue to affect and transform the relations between Italy and the rest of the world. Italian minors acquire the intercultural competency required for jobs in communication, education, tourism, and international business, thus complementing majors in international studies, art, music, and business, among others. Students minoring in Italian are expected to be able to communicate in Italian, orally and in writing, at the intermediate level of proficiency. A minor in Italian and the opportunity to study abroad in Italy provide students with the cultural competency and the linguistic skills to continue their studies after graduation and eventually achieve the advance proficiency needed to use Italian in a professional context.
