Transferring New Course Work
Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students interested in taking courses at another regionally accredited college/university to transfer into Towson University must complete a Transfer Petition Form.
- - Undergraduate Students
To begin the process, please submit a petition using the link above. If the course is to be completed at a Maryland community college, it is recommend you use the Transfer Evaluation System (TES) to determine an equivalency. If you intend to complete a course at any four year institution, or any institution outside the state or Maryland, you must submit a course description and/or course syllabus with your petition so that an equivalency may be determined.
An official transcript is required after the course has been completed and a grade is posted. Towson University will accept an official transcript by mail or electronically. If sending a transcript by mail, the envelope must be sealed by the sending institution and sent to Towson University, Records and Registration, 8000 York Road, Towson, MD 21252. Electronic transcripts will only be accepted from the transferring institution and cannot be accepted when forwarded from a campus or personal email address.
Graduate Students
Graduate students interested in taking courses at another college/university to transfer into Towson University will need to complete a Transfer Petition Form. Graduates may transfer up to 50% of their coursework depending on the program's individual transfer policy.

To begin the process, please submit a petition using the link above. Students must include a catalog course description with their petition. If the course was completed during a previous term, an official transcript must be submitted to Towson University, Records and Registration, 8000 York Road, Towson, MD 21252, or electronically via recordsandregistration AT_TOWSON. If you are seeking preapproval for a course during a future term, please submit an official transcript to the address mentioned above after you complete the course.
Students are also encouraged to include their rationale for how the transfer credit will fit with their program of study.
Once the course has been completed, submit an official sealed transcript from the transferring school. Send to Towson University, Records and Registration, 8000 York Road, Towson, MD 21252.
