Jess Fisher Pre-Engineering Scholarship
The Jess Fisher Pre-Engineering Scholarship is now accepting applications for the 2025–2026 academic year.
The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics (FCSM) announces the Jess Fisher Pre-Engineering Scholarship in memory of Robert M. Fisher, a donor-funded endowed scholarship for incoming freshmen students committed to major in a program housed in the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics and planning a career in engineering. This scholarship is renewable up to three additional years as long as the student remains a major in the Fisher College.
Recipients of the Jess Fisher Pre-Engineering Scholarship receive the following additional benefits.
- Encourage admission into the Honors College at Towson University (application required)
- Undergraduate research opportunities, conducting research projects with faculty in the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics
- A personal faculty mentor who will guide the academic pursuits of the Fisher Scholar throughout his or her undergraduate career
- Opportunities to pursue internships in business, industry and government agencies
- Opportunities to study abroad and away
Eligibility and Criteria:
- Fall 2025 incoming freshmen admitted to pursue a major in a program housed in the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics and planning a career in engineering.
- Enrolled as a full-time student in Fall 2025 (at least 12 credit hours).
- Demonstrate outstanding academic potential based on high school record, especially in science and mathematics courses, SAT/ACT scores (optional), a personal statement of career plans, and letters of reference from high school teachers.
Award Amount:
Covers the full cost of in-state tuition and fees for the 2025–2026 academic year; and is renewable up an additional three years.
Application Procedure:
Before you begin filing out the application you must do the following:
- Write a personal statement expressing your career plans. This can be in either Word or Adobe PDF format and must be no more than one page.
- Scan your high school transcript to an Adobe PDF file.
- Optionally, scan your ACT or SAT report to an Adobe PDF file.
Once these files have been created, click on this link to the application:
Note: this scholarship and the Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship use the same application
form. This form is labeled the Jess Fisher Class of 1934 Scholarship Application.
- In the PowerForm Signer Information screen, type in your first and last name and you email address. Then click on the BEGIN SIGNING button.
- Optional click to accept cookies.
- Click on the CONTINUE button.
- Click on the red circle that indicates which scholarship you are applying for. It is possible to apply for both scholarships using the same form.
- Fill in the information requested in the red boxes. Note, do not included dashes in the telephone number.
- Click on the “paper clip” to attach your “personal statement.”
- Click on the “paper clip” to attach you high school transcript.
- Optionally click on the” paper clip:” to attach your ACT or SAT scores report.
- Click on the Sign button.
- Click on the FINISH button to submit your application.
- Two teacher references are required for the application process. Please select teachers
who can comment on your interest and commitment to a physical/computer scientific
or mathematics discipline. Have them email this letter of reference to FCSM@towson.edu
and insert your name and the scholarship you are applying for in the subject line
of the email.
