Environmental Sustainability Minor

The environmental sustainability minor provides an interdisciplinary foundation in sustainable thinking that prepares students to take informed action on campus, in their communities and in the work force.

Students in the environmental sustainability minor will learn how key principles in sustainability can be applied to the complex environmental problems faced by society and ecosystems. These complex problems, including climate change, require multi-disciplinary approaches and perspectives that draw from science, economics, the arts, social sciences and health sciences.

The 18-20 unit minor is based on four foundational pillars of sustainability:

  • Planet (science)
  • Prosperity (economics and organizations)
  • People (social sciences, humanities and health)
  • Practice

Students take courses in the four pillars in addition to a required introductory sustainability course and a practicum course. View in the Undergraduate Catalog. 

The environmental sustainability minor is designed for students from any college or major program with interest in interdisciplinary sustainability.
