Upsilon Pi Epsilon Honor Society

The Towson University Beta Chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE) was established in 1991. The mission of Upsilon Pi Epsilon is to recognize academic excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Computing and Information Disciplines. The program allows outstanding students to obtain recognition of superior educational achievement that emphasizes the Computing and Information Disciplines as well as liberal arts, sciences, and other professional and interdisciplinary education in the context of individual and societal responsibilities.

Benefits

Membership in UPE is the highest honor that a student in the computer and information sciences can receive. Members receive a free one-year membership to the Association for Computing Machinery and students are eligible for various scholarships.

Costs

Cost of membership is a total of $70.00, including the following:

  • $60.00 national initiation fee (includes UPE pin)
  • $10.00 local lifetime membership fee for new members

Eligibility is open to the following:

  • Students from all computing majors with a GPA of 3.0 or better in their last 60 credits
  • All CIS Faculty

Application

  • Applications should be sent to Dr. Nam Nguyen () beginning Jan 2 – Mar 12
  • Applications should contain a completed application found on the site as well as an updated transcript
  • Application fees are $60 (one time application fee) and $10 (UPE pin for induction) made out to the TU Foundation

Respondents will be notified of the results of their application by April 1. In order to participate in the induction ceremony, successful applicants must hand in their payments (check or cash) in an envelope with their name. Checks MUST be made out to the TU Foundation. The induction ceremony takes place once a year in April.
