Cost of Attendance

If you apply for financial aid, the Financial Aid Office will calculate your eligibility for aid based on the costs below. (Also see How Awards Are Determined.)

These Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 budgets include estimated direct TU charges (tuition/fees, campus housing, and meal plans) and allowances for indirect costs (books and supplies, off-campus housing/food, transportation, personal expenses, and federal loan fees). You will only incur loan fees if you borrow federal loans.

For students who live on-campus or off-campus not with parents, the housing and food allowances are based on the cost for Premium on-campus housing ($9,878 for two semesters) and the average cost of our four meal plan options ($6,382 for two semesters). Freshman on-campus housing costs are usually lower because most freshman live in less expensive multiple-occupancy rooms ($8,502 for two semesters) in the Glen Complex, Richmond, Newell, Prettyman, Scarborough, or the Residence Tower.

All of our meal plans include unlimited daily visits to our three campus dining halls, but offer different options at our other campus restaurants. If you commute from your parents' home, you will receive a lower "Living with Parent" housing and food allowance.

The tables below list our approved 2024-2025 rates. For more details, see tuition and fee rates or housing and meal plan rates. These rates remain subject to change as deemed necessary by TU and the University System of Maryland Board of Regents. Our estimated 2025-2026 costs won't be available until March 2025.

Enrollment Requirements

  • For all our initial aid offers, we assume full-time enrollment status and budgets. If you plan to enroll part-time, you must notify us. Follow these award notification instructions.
  • If you enroll less than half-time, your budget can only include tuition/fees and books/supplies and can’t include room/board, transportation, or personal expenses.
  • For information about aid program enrollment requirements, see Minimum Credits.

Differential Tuition Costs

In addition to the cost below, juniors and seniors with majors in Nursing, the College of Business and Economics, and the Computer and Information Sciences Department must pay an additional $63 per unit in Differential Tuition charges for their courses in these departments.  The estimated average annual differential tuition charges for full-time juniors and seniors are $1,178 for Nursing, $1,428 for the College of Business and Economics, and $1,112 the Computer and Information Sciences Department. Total Differential Tuition charges are capped at $750 per semester and $3,000 total during all your semesters at TU.
