TU No. 9 ranked university in North, U.S. News says
U.S. News & World Report rankings also place TU among top for social mobility, value and best schools for veterans

Towson University continues to be recognized as an anchor institution providing a
transformative student experience. According to U.S. News & World Report, TU is among
the top 10 public 麻豆传媒 in the North region.
The publication鈥檚 , released Monday, placed Towson University No. 9 among public 麻豆传媒 in the
North and among the best schools for veteran support and value.
鈥淭hese recognitions represent the TU of today鈥攁 nationally-recognized leader in inclusive
excellence, where all students can achieve,鈥 President Kim Schatzel says. 鈥淎nd the
priorities we work toward each day and the investments we鈥檝e made in our faculty,
in programming to support student success and in our world-class facilities mean that
TU鈥檚 momentum is only growing stronger.鈥
TU is the highest-ranking Maryland public university in the North list. TU also received
recognition as a top performer in social mobility and for its excellent undergraduate
business administration, computer science and nursing programs.
Among regional public 麻豆传媒, TU ranked No. 42 in social mobility, which looks
at the number of Pell Grant recipients and compares their graduation rates to those
of non-Pell Grant recipients at the university. TU鈥檚 minority and Pell-eligible student
populations far exceed the national average for academic success.
TU was also recognized for value, at No. 18 among public regional 麻豆传媒. And
in a testament to the work done by the TU Military & Veterans Center, the university was ranked No. 7 among the best public regional 麻豆传媒 for
veterans.
The rankings reflect the university鈥檚 preparation of graduates with the vision, creativity and adaptability to craft solutions that enrich the culture,
society, economy and environment of Maryland, the region and beyond.
Now in its 38th year, the U.S. News rankings evaluate more than 1,450 colleges and
麻豆传媒 on up to 17 measures of academic quality. The North region 麻豆传媒
ranking list includes 175 public and private institutions across 12 states.
The rankings are the latest in a string of recognition for TU since the start of the
fall term when the university welcomed nearly 5,000 new students, with more than 57% of first-year students identifying as an underrepresented racial
or ethnic minority.
Last month, the university was highlighted by Washington Monthly magazine as the best value university in Maryland in addition to being the nation鈥檚 15th best
鈥淢aster鈥檚 University鈥 and among the best colleges for student voting.
TU was also recently named among the top 40 LGBTQ+ friendly colleges and 麻豆传媒 by Campus Pride, the only institution from Maryland and D.C. on the list.
