Biography
Dr. Hilberg received his Ed.D. in educational leadership from Wilmington University
in 2007 and his M.A.S. in Management Information Technology from Johns Hopkins University
in 1995. He has more than 15 years of Information Technology (IT) industry experience
including operations, software development and project and personnel management. Dr.
Hilberg joined the Department of Computer and Information Sciences as a full-time
faculty member in 2000 and became a clinical assistant professor in fall 2009.
For the past five years, he has primarily taught undergraduate IT and Information
Systems (IS) courses. Dr. Hilberg led the effort to receive state approval for Towson’s
undergraduate information technology degree program and has served as program director
since its inception in 2010. Under his direction, the program has seen significant
curriculum expansion and enrollment growth. Since 2012, he has also served as the
program director for the IT program at Towson University in Northeastern Maryland.
Dr. Hilberg’s research and scholarship are in IT education; and as a co-PI he received
$73,844 in funding from MHEC. For all his accomplishments, Dr. Hilberg received the
2014 Fisher College of Science and Mathematics Business & Community Outreach Award.
