Dr. Bailey is a historian of religion who researches sectarian and innovative expressions of religion in nineteenth and early twentieth-century America. She is especially interested in the intersections of food and material culture with religion at that time. With a passion for learning design, she is also a scholar of pedagogy, and works to incorporate emerging technologies into her religious studies and Honors College classrooms. Her work has been published in the International Journal for the Study of New Religions, the Bulletin for the Study of Religion, and Religion, Attire, and Adornment in North America (Columbia University Press), in addition to several encyclopedias and teaching resources.
