Health Science Minor

Complement your major and add to your breadth of knowledge with health-related coursework through a health science minor.

Many aspects of our lives and a wide range of disciplines are related to the health profession. No matter what your major, you can gain a basic background in health science that you can use in combination in virtually any field of study.

The minor is open to students from all majors, except students majoring in Public Health. To earn a minor in health science, you must complete 21 units with a GPA of 2.00 or higher. For students on the 2023-24 catalog, see below for the revised requirements. Starting with the 2023-24 catalog, the Health Science minor is open to all majors, including Public Health.

  • HLTH 101 — Wellness for a Diverse Society (3)
  • HLTH 2xx â€” 200 level HLTH course (3)
  • HLTH 207 — Health Care in the U.S. (3)
  • HLTH 222 — Foundations of Health Education and Health Behavior (3)

In addition to the four required courses, you must take three additional upper-level electives; two must be from HLTH and one course can be from another discipline.
